i think you're fairly on point....

i understand the "don't get it's, you need to be high" perspective -- dark star, playin in the band, other one -- your average idiot at the mall AINT IN'nERESED in that shit sonny, AND YOU KNOW IT.....

BUT, if you are seriously interested in a wide scope of music, have an open mind, and have read JACK KEROUAC, (all the beats) and do not equate WEED WITH THE DEVIL you are susceptible to the charms of the dead.

BUT (again) even then, WTF? they're out of tune half the time, can only sing all the lyrics half the time and were ACTIVELY PURSUING THE WEIRD FACTOR 100% of the time -- what can you say man, it's not everyone's cup of tea.

and then there's this: THE FACT OF THE MATTER:

The Grateful Dead Experience has yielded the single greatest recorded catalogue of a unique and original music in the history of mankind and nothing will ever likely be created again that can match it. By volume alone the totality of the DEAD'S RECORDED MUSIC is an Achievement on the Human level without equal.

I mean really, i cannot think of a damn thing that is even REMOTELY CLOSE! take or leave it, you can't argue with it..........

YEAH MAN, they were a bunch of fucking dorks! but they were a little family.... and that's how they did it for 25+ years. "they" just don't know what they're missing and we like that a little bit now don't we?:
